Welcome to “In the Loupe”! This week
I want all of you to ask yourselves one
question. If your jewelry were lost,
stolen or damaged would you be
covered? After working as the manager
at Plumb Gold for the last 33 years, I
have seen and heard it all when it comes
to jewelry horror stories.
The number one thing you can do to
protect yourself in case of jewelry
mishaps is to have accurate appraisals
written by qualified professionals!
With today’s skyrocketing gold and
diamond prices, your jewelry is worth
more than ever. It is very important to
have current values assigned to your
items. If you have never had your
jewelry appraised before, it is worth it to
ensure that you are protected. If you
have appraisals already, you should
regularly update them.

To get an independent and accurate appraisal for insurance or estate
purposes, take your jewelry to someone
reputable and trustworthy.
As a Graduate Gemologist with the
Gemological Institute of America and a
Certified Gemologist with the American
Gem Society, I am uniquely qualified to
know and understand the true value of
your heirlooms. Anyone who does not
have the additional education to become
a gemologist cannot accurately appraise
your jewelry!
Finally, if you make a claim with your
insurance company, descriptive appraisals
with photos are your biggest ally in
getting your jewelry back. Be assertive!
Don’t settle! If your
piece was custom
designed, you should
get a custom replacement. |
